Check the weight of the yarn

Check if the weight of your yarn is suitable for the project you are going to crochet.
A fine yarn might be perfect for a baby blanket or bed covering, but not suitable for a poncho or other garment,
that is designed to keep the cold out.

The weight of your yarn is also depending on the size of your crochet hook, because the hook will determine
the size of the stitches and that will have an impact on the thickness of your crochet project.

The type of yarn must work for the type of garment you are making.
For instance, fun fur yarn will make a great scarf but is not practical for a blanket or a placemat.
