Children’s clothing
Standard European children’s clothing sizes are in centimeters length/height.

140 cms ( 10 years),
152 cms ( 12 years ),
164 cms ( 14 years ),.
Use a measuring tape and the child’s length to select sizes.

BODY SIZES:
Use chest size as the key for all its ‘standard’ size data.
Body sizes vary greatly in shape and it is always best to use custom sizes if you can.
However, when you cannot, or are knitting for someone far away, the  size data,
may help you determine what size to use.

chool-age children may enjoy clothes as gifts, especially if it has the latest cartoon character.
Avoid buying clothes that is too large.
For example, the winter season may be ended before your child grows into the item, and then it might be too
small for the next winter. Clothes should not get in the way.

Look for clothes that: fits without bagging or binding; has adequate fullness in the seat (especially if still
using diapers); has adequate body length.
Look for: clothes with reflective tape or trim for late evening and night-time visibility; light or bright colors when
outerwear is not worn; clothes that fits —so it doesn’t cause children to trip and fall or get hung up,
—so it doesn’t restrict movement.

Children’s clothes are purchased by size, not age, try clothes on your child to find the right size.

Basic schematics for a children's sweater with set-in shoulder and round neck   gauge

Knitting tip for drop sleeves:
At the end or top of the drop sleeve you have to cast off all the stitches at once.
create a little bow or sleeve top instead.
Cast for instance at the beginning of the row, 5 - 10 stitches off, repeat this 4 times.
Now you can cast off all the remaining stitches.
You will notice that the sleeve will fit and fall nicer than the usual way.

Free children's knitting graphs

Children can learn knitting from the age of six, don't think they are too young.
Children have the ability to learn very quickly and the sooner you start teaching them, the better.

Perhaps crocheting is for a little bit older children, but let them try to do as much as possible.
Do you know children learn all the basic interests before the age of 3!
The seed for skills in later live, is planted before the age of 3, amazing, isn't it ?

Mozart could play the piano when he was 3 years old. And that is a bit more difficult than knitting.
